Check out this awesome video of the aurora borealis at Sunshine Village from May of this year.

When visiting Banff there is always the chance of getting lucky and catching the light show known as the Aurora. The best chance of seeing the aurora borealis is during the months of February through April and although not all that common there are usually a few events each season.

For viewing ideally you want a night with clear skies and to be in a location away from light pollution such as the street or building lights. A local favorite spot near the Town of Banff is Lake Minnewanka. Joining the Facebook group Alberta Aurora Chasers will definitely up your chances of seeing a spectacular event like this from Sunshine last spring.
