Local wolf pack has been keeping out of trouble

December 11, 2021 Greg Comments 0 Comment

After getting into a lot of trouble in previous years the Bow Valley wolf pack has managed to keep a low profile in 2021.

2021 was a quiet year for the wolves that call the Bow Valley home. Wildlife experts from Parks Canada say the pack avoids problems and is rarely seen, unlike most years when wolves have often been seen along the Bow Valley Parkway or closer to the town of Banff. It has been noted that the pack has been quite mysterious all summer and fall compared to their usual routines and is clearly being more careful, which is a very good thing.

Although the wolves have been quiet a Parks Canada trail camera did capture a photo of a group of 9 of them together at 2 Jack Lake and on November the 9th it was also confirmed that a young of the year pup was struck and killed by train west of the Hillsdale split.

Bow Valley wolf pack roaming far and wide

BANFF – The Bow Valley wolf pack, which had a pup killed on the train tracks last month, has been keeping a low profile this summer and fall navigating the busy region. Parks Canada wildlife experts say the pack has kept out of trouble and is seldom spotted, unlike most years when wolves are regularly seen along the Bow Valley Parkway or closer to the Banff townsite.
