Backpacking the Skoki Mountain Loop
Backpacking season in Banff won’t realistically begin for another 4 months but it’s already been a long winter and hopefully this recently released video by Loo from Little Loo, Big World will give inspiration and fill you with excitement for the upcoming season.
Watch as Loo and her sidekick Taylor make the 3-day nearly 40-kilometer epic trek from the Fish Creek trailhead near Lake Louise to the Baker Creek and Merlin Meadows campsites with numerous stops, side hikes, and points of interest past along the way such as the Sawback Range, Redoubt Mountain, Ptarmigan Lake, Baker Lake, the Wall of Jericho, and a waterfall.
You can check out this detailed report of the backpacking trip from Taylor to get more information about the adventure such as their encounter with a shoe-eating porcupine and tips to help you plan your own trip.
Camping reservations are now open for the 2022 season and you can check out this page from Parks Canada with all the information you need to know for planning a backpacking trip of your own in Banff National Park.
